iTeen Miss Lumbee
Page Jones

Parents: Sharon and Michael Jones

Brian Tracey once said, “Your most valuable asset is your willingness to persist longer than anyone else.”

Hi Everyone! I am Page Danielle Jones the 17 year old daughter of Sharon and Michael Jones of Prospect/Pembroke. I can honestly say that all the years of hard work and perseverance have truly paid off. To have my dream finally come true, really means the world to me! But absolutely none of this would have been possible without the love and guidance from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I thank him each and everyday for blessing me with the opportunity to represent 56,000 proud Lumbee Indians.

Being a young Lumbee woman in today’s society, I have seen first hand what we as a Lumbee nation have had to face in our struggles. During my reign as your Teen Miss Lumbee, I plan to do anything within my power to help better our tribe as a whole. Including working with Miss Lumbee, Ashley Nicole Haywood, on her platform Fit 4 Life. A program designed to help the youth of today, plan for a healthier tomorrow. I look forward to working on this project not only during my reign, but for years to come!

So far this journey has been so amazing! Already, I have gained so many valuable personal and cultural experiences through participation and networking. I am so excited to get this show on the road, speaking of roads - this has been a tuff road that I have traveled on to get where I am today. Without the help of wonderful friends and family members I have no idea where I would be.

Mama, WOW! Where do I begin to express my love for you? No matter what, you have always been there for me and none of this would have possible without you. I could never thank you enough! Daddy and James, you guys never get the recognition you deserve. Thank you for not GOING CRAZY when I practiced every single day and night. I truly love you both! To the greatest Aunts and Uncles of all time Aunt Sarah, Aunt Glenda, Aunt Lillie, Aunt Cookie, Aunt Evonia, Uncle Louie, Uncle Chuck, and Uncle Jeff, thank you for all of your support over the years. No matter what happens I know that I can count on you guys to always be there cheering me on.

Then comes the rest of my family, thanks for always being the BIGGEST “PAGE FANS!” Rhiannon, my little cousin/unofficial little sister, we have been through so much this year and I am so happy that I got the chance to share this moment with you. Thank you for being there for me when I needed someone to listen, help make buttons and fans, and also help me perfect my regalia speech, I love you “Mini Page!”

Now, without these people my performance would be nothing. Charlene, hunny! I told you that I would win you a Lumbee title. Thanks for all of your hard work over the years and always knowing just what to do to make me look gorgeous, I love you! Ms. Ivette, my absolutely fabulous, foreign language speaking seamstress. Thanks for never giving up on me and always making the HOTTEST outfits. Lots of love goes out to you and your family. Mr. Errol Oxendine, better known as BUDDY. I am so thankful to have met such a kind, caring, and god fearing influential person. You have made such a difference in my life, thanks to you I go through life with a huge smile on my face. I love you Buddy! Ms. Sandra Wonderful Whittemore, you and your family are great! Thanks for the most beautiful regalia I have ever seen. I look forward to our next LAUGHFEST! Vee Oxendine, many thanks go out to you for helping me out with my fan. Also thanks for all of your words of encouragement, you will always be MY Mr. Lumbee! Ms. Jeanne, even though I have never actually worked with you, I could always count on you to give me THE TRUTH, Thanks! Ms. Marie with MHR Designs, you are a TOTAL “Bling Queen”, thank you for always being so kind and generous, and making the best jewelry.

I appreciate everything these people have done for me to help better my performance. Along with those are also my friends! Amber, my best friend, our journey has only began, I love you! Cassie, thanks for all that you do, 143! Ciera, girl thanks for all the laughs, love you cuda! Keiona, thanks for being there for your Nanna. Victoria… even though I’m still mad you weren’t there to see your little sis get crowned, I still love ya! And to the rest… Joy, Alana, Alexis, Kelsey, Brittany, Chris, Shervain, Hillary, Terry, Rose, and Travis. Thank you so much for all of your support, I love you guys!

I can’t forget the rest of my support group, Dale and Brandi Scott; the Hunt families; Joan, Denzel, and Deidra Locklear; Jamee Hunt Miss UNCP 2008; members of New Prospect Church; Lynn, Gage, and Zoey; Gary Strickland and family; Precious Moments Daycare; Herman and Ginger Jones and family; Angela Locklear and family; and the Bullard family. THANKS A LOT!!!

Words really can not express my feelings of gratitude towards each and everyone of you. Also a big thank you goes to all of my sponsors! To my fellow contestants, Joann, Ashton, and Makayla. You girls are awesome… never let the outcome of a pageant define you. Winning a pageant doesn’t make you a princess, being all that you can be, staying true to yourself, and wearing a BIG smile makes you a true QUEEN.

To my new sisters for life… Ashley, hunny we finally did it! All of our hard work and nights without sleep paid off BIG TIME. I don’t care what anyone says, I love you and I know for a fact that you will make our Lumbee people proud. Miss Kayla, girl there is a grown woman in that tiny body of yours dying to BREAKOUT. I love that you like having fun and learning new things. My darling Drew, I barely know you and have already fell in love with that contagious smile of yours. I look forward to sharing many wacky Kodak moments with you. To the parents of these ladies, get ready for a year of laughter!

Lastly, I would like to dedicate my reign to my recently deceased grandma, Minnie Lucille Oxendine. The one year I get it grandma, and your not here to be part of the royal family. Thank you for always watching over your little princess and I promise to take good care of your necklace! This ones for you grandma, I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.

Awaiting a year full of laughs, encouragement, knowledge, smiles, and friendship… I am your 2008-2009 Teen Miss Lumbee, Page Danielle Jones!
